VirTour (short from Virtual tour) is based on MirVokrug (World Around) website. In general, we can say that both websites - VirTour and MirVokrug - are the two important parts of one major project which is continuously and intensively updated and improved.
MirVokrug website offers its visitors a lot of beautiful spherical panoramas of Moscow and other great cities of Russia and Ukraine, such as: St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Ulyanovsk, Sergiev Posad, Korolev, Uglich, Essentuki, Pyatigorsk, Kislovodsk, Kostroma, Crimea and many others. The idea on the new VirTour website is as follows: spherical panoramas are placed along the certain walking tour. These walking tours were developed officially and can be found in the official tourist map of Moscow. They were developed taking into account the location of the most interesting sights of the Russian capital.
There are 10 tourist routes in the map of Moscow:
- Manezhnaya square, Mokhovaya street, Vozdvizhenka street, Tverskaya street, Pushkinskaya square, Revolutsii square
- Aleksandrovsky garden, Lubyanskaya square, Old square, Slavic area, Barbarian, Red square.
- Aleksandrovsky garden, Big Stone bridge, Patriarchal bridge, Temple of the Christ of the saviour, Gogol parkway, Arbat.
- Vasilevsky descent, Big Moskvoretsky bridge, Pjatnitsky street, Lavrushensky lane, Luzhkov the bridge, the Marsh area.
- Nevsky prospect, Mars field, Suvorovskaya square, Dvortcovaya embankment, Dvortcovaya square, Dekabristov square, Isakievskaya square.
- Suvorovskaya square, Petrogradskaya embankment, Petropavlovskaya fortress, Mytninskaya embankment, Birjevaya square, Dvortcovaya embankment.
- Trading numbers, Voskresenskaya and Kazanskaya churches, Kremlin, Rojdestvensky cathedral, Uspenskaya church, Arhierejsky chambers, Museum of wooden architecture, Hotel complex "Pushkarsky large village"
- Vorobjevy Gory, Andreevskaya embankment, Pushkinskaya embankment, "Trubetskih country estate in Khamovniki" park, Devichego polya park, Square of Europe, Bagration bridge, Business centre.
- Triumfalnaya square, Aquarium garden, Bolshaya Sadovaya street, Patriarshie prudy, Spiridonovka, Nikitskie vorota square, Kudrinskaya square, Moscow zoo.
These routes are shown in the map, and panoramas taken along the certain walking tour are placed on the virtual routes. The number of panoramas placed on each route is different; however, it will grow as time passes. There will appear the new panoramas from numerous interesting city areas as well as panoramas of numerous Moscow sights; there will also appear new tourist routes of Moscow and other cities.
Also, there is the Moscow map and St. Petersburg map in our website which includes all panoramas presented in our website. If you wish you can take a virtual tour around this map without being obliged to choose just one certain route. Panoramas offer you a lot of beautiful Moscow sights and areas: Kremlin and its neighborhood, Red Square and Vasilevsky descent, Manezhnaya Square, Old Arbat street, The Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Tretyakov gallery, Vorobievy Gory, railway bridge and Luzniki stadium, Pushkin Square and Tverskaya street.
